Lesson 3 : Is God Listening?

Biblical Passage: 1 Samuel 1:1–28 Supporting Passages: 1 Samuel 2:1–21; Psalm 42 Memory Verses: 1 Samuel 1:27–28 Biblical Truth: God answered Hannah’s desperate prayer by giving her a son, showing He is faithful to hear and respond to the requests of His people. Context: Years of barrenness had left Hannah humiliated and verbally abused. Desperately, she petitioned God to grant her a son. Even in the midst of her desperation, she promised God she would give her son back to Him if He heard her cries. Her story, the third in this series, shows how God hears and responds to our prayers of desperation. Learning Goals: Learners will examine Hannah’s passionate struggle with unfulfilled hopes.
